ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION – MEDIATION

ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION – MEDIATION

Mediation is a very successful Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) technique, which was first introduced in the Greek legal system by Greek Law 3898/2010, “Mediation in civil and commercial disputes”, following relevant European Directive.

Mediation is a structured process, in which parties of a dispute, represented by their lawyers or by their directors, make an attempt to reach an amicable settlement of their dispute by an agreement, with the assistance of a neutral third party, the Mediator. Mediation can provide a cost – effective and fast out of court resolution of disputes in civil and commercial matters, through processes tailored to the needs of the parties, while ensuring complete confidentiality of information arising out of or in connection with the Mediation process. Agreements resulting from Mediation are more likely to be complied with voluntarily and are more likely to preserve a sustainable business relationship between the parties.
